Ignatius 'John' Sybrandy of Matamoras, Pa., dies at age 81

July 6, 2017, at home. He was 81.He was born on Jan. 9, 1936, in Medemblik, Holland, the son of George Sybrandy and Anna Maria Roozendaal Sybrandy. He married Janny Van Gilst Sybrandy, who pre-deceased him on Aug. 16, 2016. He was a very faithful member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Matamoras; and an active member of John Paul II Knights of Columbus Council 13935 in Milford, Pa. He is also a former District Deputy, Past Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator of the Bishop McCormack 4th Degree Assembly. He is a life member of the Matamoras Rod & Gun Club, a member of the Matamoras Borough Council and Planning Board. He was a former Boy Scout Assistant Scout Master for Troop #173, Boy Scouts of America, Port Jervis. He owned and operated Sybrandy’s Deli in Matamoras for many years. He was a retired security receiver at Shop Rite Food Store in Montague and Middletown and a retired transportation coordinator at Glen Arden, Goshen, N.Y.Survivors include four sons, Cornelius A. Sybrandy and Vanessa of Marriottsville, Md., Paul George Sybrandy and Diana of Carbondale, Pa., Johannes P. Sybrandy and his wife, Amber, of Dingman’s Ferry, Pa., George Rodgers and Kathy of Oakridge, N.J., daughters, Anna M. Rolando and her husband, Doc, of Hewitt, N.J., Patricia C. Fernot of Vernon, N.J.; sister, Catharina DeVries; brothers, Johannes P. Sybrandy and Bernardus Sybrandy, all of Holland; 19 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.He was pre-deceased by his brother Peter B. Sybrandy. Visitation was held July 10 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, Port Jervis, N.Y. Knights of Columbus conducted services at the funeral home. Prayers were offered at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Matamoras, the Rev. Alfred Vito officiating. Interment was private. Lorri Ane (Ingebrigtson) Weets, 54

She died on Monday, August 7, 2017 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake, Iowa at the age of 54 after her battle with brain cancer.Lorri attended Jackson High School, graduating in 1981.On December 19, 1980, she was united in marriage to Chuck Weets at the Assembly of God in Jackson. Lorri was employed at the Jackson Good Samaritan from 1979 until 2008 when she then started working with Home Health at the Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville. For hobbies, she enjoyed drag racing, gardening, walking, the Minnesota Twins and Green Bay Packers. Most important to Lorri was the joy she received taking care of her family and friends.She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Jackson. Left to cherish Lorri's memory are her husband, Chuck Weets of Alpha, MN; children, Nicholas, Jason, and Cory (Anja) Weets all of Alpha, MN; siblings, Sandi (Gus) King of Sioux Falls, SD; Jean Lindmeyer of New Ulm, MN; Marilyn (Steve) Plumhoff of Alpha, MN; Nancy (Joe) Dingman of Casper, WY; John (Tammy) Ingebrigtson of Alpha, MN; brother-in-law, Steve (Bev) Thom and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.She has been preceded in death by her parents; sister, Cheryl Thom; and brother-in-law, Gary Lindmeyer.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Avera Home Health or Elderbridge.A visitation for Lorrie will take place on Saturday, August 12, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Jackson, Minnesota. Funeral Services will take place on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Jackson, Minnesota with Pastor Steve DeKok officiating.
